Day 3 and another reworking, this time of a piece from over two years ago. Quite different from the last two illustrations in nature with only the medium in common. However it is another idea that I like quite a lot, in fact there is a rather large Heavy-body Acrylic on Canvas painting of one the original series on the wall in the living room over the fireplace.
I think this has a fairy tale kind of feeling to it and I have deliberately kept the background rather in the vein of a woodcut and in contrast the figures have a much finer execution, which the scan doesn't reproduce that well here. This is an improvement of the previous incarnations of this piece and I am not displeased with it.
The decision now is, is tomorrow (Saturday) another studio day or a day off!

I remember this piece. It has been one of my favorites. I admire how the arms of the humans and the branches and vines are all intertwining. This only gets better.

This is beautiful. I love how the vine entwines them. Is this a front view of the painting you did of the two from the back? I remember how touched I was by the beauty of that painting - all done in grey tones.

Hi Ginger, as soon as I had finished this the better half asked 'ooh can this be framed and go on the wall'. There was a bit of a sad face when I said, 'No, it's going in the folio'...ah well in trouble again hehe. I'm glad you think that it is an improvement and of course they finally got faces which they were lacking in the first renditions!
Hi Carla, the original sketch of this was created before the 'Moonlight' painting you are thinking of and which I alluded to in this post which hangs above the fireplace. They are from the same series however and I may re-work the Moonlight piece as a more finished pen & ink work as well as being an Acrylic on canvas to go along side this one on the new illustration website.
I have also just noticed an email from a magazine asking if they could use the third in the series of these works in an article... I should check my email more frequently!
